Free Webinar: Artificial Intelligence

ai artificial intelligence

AI is a growing field, and this free webinar will explore the role that it will play in the workplace. Dr. Wanda Curlee is an APUS faculty member and will discuss AI in the workplace. She will also discuss how AI can help improve workplace productivity. This webinar is a great introduction to AI and machine learning.

AI is part of CompSci

AI is an area in computer science that allows machines and computers to perform tasks that are previously impossible for humans. This field is concerned with developing algorithms and computer systems that can learn from large quantities of data. These applications range from image analysis to predictive analytics.

AI is a rapidly growing field with endless applications. AI technology brings a new level of productivity to businesses, allowing them to automate tasks like text processing and resource management. This webinar will present the latest technology and discuss some of AI's cutting-edge applications.

AI has come quite a ways since 1956, when it was born at Dartmouth College. Several top researchers and industry leaders met at this conference, which is credited with kicking off the field of AI. Many breakthroughs in this field have been made since then. Particularly, there have been significant advancements in computer vision and robotics. These advancements have made AI possible.

Machine learning is a subset AI

Machine learning is the art of developing algorithms to predict future behavior. It is used by many applications. From Google filtering spam, malware, and banks to detect suspicious transactions. It is also used to recognize voice commands, such as Amazon's Alexa. Doctors can also use machine learning algorithms to interpret test results.

Machine learning is a subset artificial intelligent systems and is a method for teaching machines how to learn from their experience. Machine learning algorithms can learn from their experiences and adapt over time, as opposed to traditional artificial intelligence systems that require explicit programming. These algorithms can be divided into two categories: unsupervised, and supervised. Reinforcement Learning uses algorithms that learn from data and adjust their weights in order to account for variables.

One of the goals of machine learning is to minimize the error of predictions in comparison to the ground truth. It is possible to create machine learning algorithms that use an error function to calculate how much the model's estimate differs from a previously known example. The "evaluate-and-optimize" process is repeated until an acceptable level is reached.

It is a part of CompSci

CompSci's Artificial Intelligence Institute webinars include a free webinar entitled "Augmented Intelligence". This webinar series will introduce you to the core concepts of AI. You will also find case studies and business insight. The webinars are hosted and presented by the CompSci faculty and Intel researchers.

Artificial intelligence is a branch within computer science. It draws from neuroscience, psychology, cognition science, and many other fields. This branch of science has applications across many fields, including software development and engineering. Several branches of AI are intertwined, including neural networks.

While the concept of a machine capable of learning and thinking on its own has been around for some time, it has taken quite some time for the field's maturity. The first AI conference held at Dartmouth College in 1956 has been credited as the beginning of AI research. It attracted both major industry and government leaders. AI has seen major advances since then. While Newell and Simon's GPS algorithm was a great step forward, it lacked the sophistication to solve complex problems. McCarthy and Weizenbaum created the Lisp program for AI programming, and the ELIZA language processing program. These breakthroughs were the foundation for chatbots as well as other AI systems.

FAQ

AI is useful for what?

Artificial intelligence refers to computer science which deals with the simulation intelligent behavior for practical purposes such as robotics, natural-language processing, game play, and so forth.

AI is also called machine learning. Machine learning is the study on how machines learn from their environment without any explicitly programmed rules.

AI is widely used for two reasons:

  1. To make your life easier.
  2. To be better at what we do than we can do it ourselves.

Self-driving vehicles are a great example. AI can replace the need for a driver.

What will the government do about AI regulation?

While governments are already responsible for AI regulation, they must do so better. They must make it clear that citizens can control the way their data is used. They must also ensure that AI is not used for unethical purposes by companies.

They also need ensure that we aren’t creating an unfair environment for different types and businesses. A small business owner might want to use AI in order to manage their business. However, they should not have to restrict other large businesses.

Which industries use AI the most?

Automotive is one of the first to adopt AI. BMW AG uses AI for diagnosing car problems, Ford Motor Company uses AI for self-driving vehicles, and General Motors uses AI in order to power its autonomous vehicle fleet.

Other AI industries are banking, insurance and healthcare.

Is Alexa an artificial intelligence?

Yes. But not quite yet.

Amazon developed Alexa, which is a cloud-based voice and messaging service. It allows users interact with devices by speaking.

The technology behind Alexa was first released as part of the Echo smart speaker. Other companies have since created their own versions with similar technology.

Some of these include Google Home, Apple's Siri, and Microsoft's Cortana.

What does AI look like today?

Artificial intelligence (AI), is a broad term that covers machine learning, natural language processing and expert systems. It's also known by the term smart machines.

The first computer programs were written by Alan Turing in 1950. He was fascinated by computers being able to think. He presented a test of artificial intelligence in his paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence." The test asks if a computer program can carry on a conversation with a human.

John McCarthy, in 1956, introduced artificial intelligence. In his article "Artificial Intelligence", he coined the expression "artificial Intelligence".

Many AI-based technologies exist today. Some are very simple and easy to use. Others are more complex. They can be voice recognition software or self-driving car.

There are two major types of AI: statistical and rule-based. Rule-based relies on logic to make decision. A bank account balance could be calculated by rules such as: If the amount is $10 or greater, withdraw $5 and if it is less, deposit $1. Statistics are used for making decisions. A weather forecast may look at historical data in order predict the future.

How does AI work?

An algorithm is a sequence of instructions that instructs a computer to solve a problem. An algorithm can be expressed as a series of steps. Each step has an execution date. The computer executes each step sequentially until all conditions meet. This repeats until the final outcome is reached.

For example, suppose you want the square root for 5. You could write down every single number between 1 and 10, calculate the square root for each one, and then take the average. That's not really practical, though, so instead, you could write down the following formula:

sqrt(x) x^0.5

This is how to square the input, then divide it by 2 and multiply by 0.5.

This is the same way a computer works. It takes your input, multiplies it with 0.5, divides it again, subtracts 1 then outputs the result.

How To

How to create an AI program that is simple

It is necessary to learn how to code to create simple AI programs. There are many programming languages out there, but Python is the most popular. You can also find free online resources such as YouTube videos or courses.

Here is a quick tutorial about how to create a basic project called "Hello World".

First, open a new document. On Windows, you can press Ctrl+N and on Macs Command+N to open a new file.

Next, type hello world into this box. Enter to save this file.

To run the program, press F5

The program should display Hello World!

This is just the beginning, though. These tutorials can help you make more advanced programs.
